Casa Hache 01

CÓRDOBA, AR

Bricks made specifically for this house: deep red, precise edges, every course perfectly aligned.

Casa H1 is one of the most beautiful houses we have built. It stands in Sinsacate, near Jesús María, on a site surrounded by native woodland, old eucalyptus and a single olive tree.

We worked alongside Pablo de la Torre, who produced the initial design. We kept the plan and the layout, but were able to change and design everything else.

The great challenge was making a house that felt different and getting the most out of the landscape. We chose exposed brick, a material deeply typical of Córdoba, for the entire façade. We wanted it to look special, so we commissioned bricks made specifically for this house: a deep red, with very precise edges.

Construction took considerable work. First a conventional wall, then an air cavity, and finally a second brick wall. The hardest part was getting every brick perfectly aligned. We took the Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakech as a reference.

The brick carries into the interior as well: the cladding can be seen and enjoyed from several rooms. The house has a central entrance, with the private area to the left and the social area to the right. We changed the original design to create an L-shaped gallery, with large openings and no visible columns, tying the gallery to the interior so that both read as one space. In the kitchen and dining room we raised the ceilings considerably, to give more generosity to gatherings with family and friends.
